Portsmouth Watersports Centre offers an outstanding and unique outdoor education
programme for schools and colleges. The Centre has two fully staffed and equipped
departments specialising in outdoor activities and environmental studies fieldwork.
Bookings are taken between Easter and Whitsun for the following academic year.

These are available throughout the year, and can be either water or land based.
On the water, our main activity is dinghy sailing but we can also offer kayaking,
open canoeing, windsurfing and raft-building. On land we have a wide range of team-centred
activities, many following a problem-solving theme. We also have the use of
our new climbing tower,

The learning is predominantly experiential and considerable emphasis is laid on
the personal and social development of the children. Programmes are designed
in conjunction with school or college staff and can be tailored to meet a wide range
of needs and abilities.
Making use of our superb location on the shore of Langstone Harbour we can offer
tailor made, fully tutored courses to a wide range of students. Groups may gain
a first hand experience of the sea and carry out investigations
on the beach adjacent to the Centre or be taken by minibus to contrasting sites.
Courses are designed in close collaboration with visiting staff. A cross-curricular
approach may be adopted or specific elements of the science or geography curriculum
from Key Stage Two to A-level may be covered.
In addition to the immediate access to the foreshore of the harbour, facilities
on site include a purpose built pond and a meadow area. These are all ideal
for self-tutored groups and teachers’ packs. Identification guides and equipment
can all be provided- please contact us for details.
